Student Leadership
SAFETY PATROL
Student safety patrols enhance enforcement of drop-off and pick-up procedures at school by increasing safety for students and traffic flow efficiency for parents. Such efforts allow students to participate in promoting traffic safety where they learn skills they can use in their everyday lives. Having a student safety patrol program at a school requires approval by the school and a committed teacher or parent volunteer to coordinate the student trainings and patrols. Before beginning a program, school officials should be contacted for approval of the program and to determine how liability issues will be addressed.
Students who are chosen for safety patrol officers are in good company. Past school safety patrol officers include current members of the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as former presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.
STUDENT APPLICATION PROCESS
Empresa's student safeties are 5th grade students, and there are two teams: Fall and Spring. It is an HONOR and a PRIVILEGE given only to those students who exemplify strong leadership qualities!
In the spring, the 4th grade students will have a chance to fill out an application to be a Fall Safety in the new year. This application is signed by the parents and reviewed by the teacher. The Safety Advisor, Mrs. Davis, goes through the applications and chooses the team. During the last week of school, the newly chosen safeties are trained by the outgoing safeties, so they are ready to start upon our return in August.
In December, the application is repeated and the spring safeties are chosen and trained. Students who serve in the fall can reapply for the spring team as well.
FALL SAFETIES READY TO SERVE!
The Fall Safeties welcome you back to school. They will be at Empresa everyday to greet you in the morning and send you home safely in the afternoon. The following students are proud to serve their school and keep all of the Empresa students safe.
The safeties are excited to represent their school and appreciate any positive comments of a job well done. Please remember they are children that have been trained to keep your child safe. Please show them the respect they deserve.
Morning Safety report time is 7:35 am.
Afternoon Safety report time is Monday 12:53 and Tues- Fri 2:13 (Afternoon Safety pick up time is approx. 20 minutes after school dismissal)
