Bike/Scooters Permit Required
Bikes/Scooters/Skateboards
Over the past two years there has been a significant increase in bike/e-bike riding and bicycle accidents. In order to keep our students safe, we have created the VUSD Bike Education program. This program supports the education of our students as well as how to safely ride bikes, e-bikes, scooters, and skateboards. Students will be required to complete an online training course or attend a Family Bike Education Night in order to ride their bikes/e-bikes to school. After completion of this course, a permit sticker will be sent to the student's school site.
Please read the following protocols before riding your bike, e-bike, skateboard, or scooter/e-scooter to school.
- Permit & Education - students need to complete the one hour certification course.
- Charging - students using e-bikes and e-scooters need to charge their equipment prior to coming to school. District outlets should not be used for charging.
- Locks and Security - It is the student’s responsibility to lock their bikes while at school. The district is not responsible for theft or damage on campus or enroute to campus/home.
- Enforcement & Safety - students must wear a helmet at all times while riding their bike, e-bike, scooter, e-scooter or skateboard. Students need to follow rules of the road at all times.
